Machiavelli was born May 3, 1469 and died June 21, 1527. He was an Italian philosopher and writer and was one of the main founders of political science today. He, like Leonardo da Vinci was a good example of the Renaissance Man in the way that he also had many interests. He was a diplomat, political philosopher, musician, playwright, and a civil servant of the Florentine Republic. His most famous work is The Prince which he wrote in 1513 but was not published until 1532 after he had died. This book's contribution of political thought is where the fine line is between political Realism and Idealism. The book talks about the arts with which a prince in power can stay in power and keep control. He also wrote The Art of War about military science. [1]
